Introduction to the grading scale

This page is meant to discuss every single mem-class combination, that is possible for the main (/mem) class "Collector" with all five other possible /mes-class options. There will be two grades for each combination:

  • A potential effectiveness/synergy grade: from 1 to 5. 5 will be a perfect addition to the class, 1 will be a very bad contribution and synergy of the skills
Rating 1 2 3 4 5
Potential effectiveness The two classes don't offer skills that give an overall improvement together. The two classes have very limited possibilities to improve the player's life compared to a mono class player The two classes have several skills which complement each other The two classes have several skills that fit together and that provide very strong stats or other effects The two classes combined create a very versatile player with many self-enforcing elements, high synergy between different skills
  • A difficulty grade: from 1 to 5. 5 will be the hardest combination, requiring a lot of attention and time investment, 1 will be the easiest to play.
Rating 1 2 3 4 5
Mode and short Explanation Baby mode:
can be played with very low effort
Simple mode:
requires attention occasionally, but mostly works out without big efforts
Normal mode:
requires frequent attention to the game and regular interactions
Hard mode:
requires deeper understanding of the game mechanics and constant attention
Extreme mode:
requires permanent attention and many challenging decisions come up often

Additionally, there will be a short discussion about advantages and disadvantages of the combinations.

Collector/Blacksmith

Mem Combination Evaluation: Collector/Blacksmith
Potential effectiveness: 5 Difficulty: 3 (normal)
Advantages
  • Very independent from other players: Can craft the the things that you personally found and farmed. You have very high control about the whole gear creation process.
  • You are an allround supporter for your guild: can help with the most important tasks in guild management
  • Completely self-sustained due to self supplying resources, parts and recipes, and being able to process it later
  • Collector amounts of loot can directly be used to create golems (from "Mighty Golem" advanced BS skill)
  • Still using a dagger or a shield -> having bonus attack points in arena -> winning more arena fights and ranking higher than Rangers or Alchemists with their special Off Hand Equipment.
  • very well integrated in the guild due to the crucial role of obtaining resources and crafting gear.
  • Can control which crafts get priority or not. Highly responible player in the guild. Certainly gets lots of thankful and positive feedback for being the one who makes it all possible.
Disadvantages
  • Collector and Blacksmith naturally share a lot of skills. There is not really much coming in addition. The bonus XP from daily crafting are not added to the bonus XP from Crafting for a BS, since it is the same skill, just at different levels. The bonus XP from "Educated Technician" - L2 - (Collector feature), are completely overwritten and replaced by the higher level skill "Educated Technician" --L10--. The collector's XP bonus is not calculated somewhere extra and and added to the bonus XP a normal BS would get. You just get the Blacksmith's amount of bonus XP from crafting and that's it.
  • For real Blacksmith-work, it's crucial to have robe armor, due to the much bigger mana pool. But a collector who wants to have top stats as Collector can't allow himself to get the lower stats robe armor. It gets very difficult to get competitive attack ord defense stats..
  • It can be overwhelming to be responsible to find and collect the loot and being completely involved in the craft preparations in addtion. This has the potential to lead to Burn-Out.
  • Blacksmith class does not provide any relevant tool to level up faster. Overall this combination will be rather slow, compared to other classes in combination with Collector.
  • The stats from being main class Collector are very balanced and therefore it's not possible to reach very high defense or very high attack values. Collector main class is not made for this purpose to get top stats in battles.
Discussion

This Mem-Class-combination is perfect for players who want to work on getting gear and who want to be involved in every step of this gear creation process. From focusing to quest at certain times and places to farm parts, over stock management, because every Collector naturally finds gigantic amounts of resources which can fill up the inventory quickly, resulting in a lot of time spent to organize the inventory. And questing with full inventory means that there is no loot as quest reward. So that is always an aspect that needs to be taken into consideration. Eventually the resources need to be sorted out or need to be slowly refined to more useful resources (Bones-> Bone Powder, Iron Ore + Powder -> Steel etc.). Another aspect is that you can't quest randomly as Collector. You always need to make sure to be around your phone during specific hours of the day to farm the relevant items there. But not only the questing can't be random anymore and needs to be planned well: preparing the actual gear craft means investing heavy amounts of your mana to prepare everything.. The craftbook will fill up quickly with frames, molds, later Quality Cloth.Until L50 and starting on a guru spec, the maintenance mode in the shop should be enabled. between L30 (when you unlock your BS skills) and L50 (when you start working on your guru spec). This will certainly unlock a few gear craft recipes too, over time, because repairing gear in a shop can randomly unlock the recipe for the shop owner. A tip about preparing crafts: Start organizing the resources for a specific craft a while before all the parts and recipes are actually found and brought together, because many craft preparations need a lot of mana which can't be provided at once.

Standard Gear Choice
  • Most Collector/Blacksmiths will stick to Robe Armor due to the fact that Blacksmiths tasks normally require a lot of mana. The Collector's Light Armor will not provide the necessary help to fulfill Blacksmith's jobs.
  • Both Collector and Blacksmith use Blunts as Main Hand Weapon. There is no need in finding a new weapon type.

Example skill tree of a lL76 Collector/Blacksmith. Short overview about the skill tree ideas:

  • Obviously, no "Smart Explorer" is skilled, because that brings next to zero bonus on higher levels. That's 12 SP saved for other things
  • All important skills concerning loot gain from collector (Collection, Perception, Gifted Pathfinder) and concerning crafting as BS (Crafting, Educated Technician, Natural Talent, Quality Craft, Blacksmith Wonders, Work to Standards) are fully skilled.
  • Even though all these tool-skills are skilled, there are enough SP to skill one Armor Mastery (Robe Armor Mastery) and one Weapon Mastery (Blunt Mastery). Going full Collector and going fulll Blacksmith at the same time is possible, while still maintaining points for stats.
  • This /class example completely skips "Picky Eater" and "Mighty Golem" skill. The creator of this points distiribution tells, that there were found other ways to deal with excess resources: distributing to all guild members to use the gnomes daily and in addition for the sentinels to feed the trader and secondly: permanently working on refining resources. Never letting it stack up to over thousands. I'm sure this requires a lot of time investment not only by the Collector/BS of this example, but by multiple people who all found a strategy together how to use it all.

Collector/Alchemist

Collector/Ranger

Preamble: this is potentially be nerfed in future!

Mem Combination Evaluation: Collector/Ranger
Potential effectiveness: 5 Difficulty: 5 (extreme)
Advantages
  • Absolutely fantastic synergy effects between "Power Napping" (reducing time to get new stamina) and "Gifted Pathfinder" (regeneration of stamina in quests) skills: with the increased amount of quests per time due to PN, with this class combination you'll gain not only a linear effect/increase of more quests, because with more quests, you'll get even more GP triggers. With PN giving stamina around every 45min on high levels (25% faster), I estimate the overall increase in quests by around 33%. The XP-gain is the best in the game currently.
  • Not only the XP-gain is increased by 33%. With 33% more quests, you'll also get 33% more loot from quests.
  • "Upgrading the base collector class" with bows gives around the same base stats as if you'd equip a blunt. But with aiming, you can get 50% (or even more) bonus stats on attack or defense, if you set the battle target in advance
  • No problems to get PoGs - if needed
  • Loot machine generator for the guild/yourself
  • Easier Enraged/Peacekeeping titles than as Ranger/Collector. On high levels, you can reach 1000Atk or 1000Def without problems, if using bows and aiming.
  • Being L50+ gives access to "It's a Trap" skill [1] from Ranger skill tree. Having /skill_trp on 3 gives access to "Observer Wards", which give - on the bottom lime - even more extra XP. Read here: Collector Guide - It's a Trap for details.

Disadvantages
  • The stamina management is very hard. Often, it can be very difficult to keep the stamina from overflowing.
  • For the same reasons: it can be very challenging or time consuming to manage the inventory
  • If you just want to go quest whenever you have time without taking extra care, this is not the right class. You'll always have to look on your stamina regeneration timer before going questing.
  • Overall a very challenging combination
  • Always a trade off between getting full stats for battle (aiming) or optimizing questing (gaining the best PN bonus). This can be seen as welcome challenge, but it is difficult, without doubt.
  • Dealing with the Skill Points is also some struggle. It is not possible to skill all loot and XP -related skills plus all stats related skills plus at least a bit of QoL-skills like Labeling or Broker. As attacker, when completely skipping Light Armor Mastery, it is somewhat manageable, but you'll never be able to max out every skill you consider as important. Maybe it's possible to c.g. ompensate missing trading slots with a "Camel" Pet [2]. I'd say if you got the 5 extra SP from having a L80 mes-class, the problem isn't that big to deal with, with the QoL-skills.
Discussion

This is certainly one of the most challenging mem-combinations out there, due to the immensely high stamina gain. Personally, I'd say you need at least a maximum amount of 15 stamina, to play this as a very active player.with the maximum PN on L8 (45min/stamina), this lasts 11.25hours. But don't forget the very high amount of quests regenerating stamina on top, making it difficult to lower the number of currently available stamina. A bit of a buffer is very useful for this. Of course I'm a bit biased because I play it myself, but I like how it is really not just straightforward easy pressing of quest and setting for battle when going afk. Almost every action as Collector/Ranger needs to be thought through and weighted against other options (Aiming vs. Questing; using bows with much better stats vs blunts and eventually less interference with PN; questing down stamina vs gaining full PN bonus; ...). I consider this highly interesting. Furthermore: to fully profit from the class choice, you can't just go questing whenever you have time to quest in RL. You need to focus on which times and places to quest are making sense for your current goals in terms of loot gain. This is not specific to this mem-class-combination, but certainly gets trickier with it, when questing is not "allowed" at any time anymore to not lose the stamina bonus.

Standard Gear Choice
  • Collector and Ranger both provide Light Armor Mastery, so the choice of armor type is obvious here.
  • For a very notable gain of stats, use bows and aiming skill (See [3] for aiming times and aiming bonus stats percentages)..
  • On lower levels, just use a Rapier/Champion Sword. Consider switching to bows with L35, but don't aim the full time or you'll lose too much stamina. But you can already start enjoying the tiny bits of bouns you can get. With Aiming 15 (at L48), you need 40min for the full 50% bonus. This means losing at maximum one time the PN-bonus. Decide for yourself which battles are important enough to sacrifice it for more stats.

Example skill tree

This is my own L55-/class output. On higher levels: always focus Power Napping and Gifted Pathfinder (new levels always unlock at L54,L64,L74, so be prepared!). Also very important is investing the single SP-cost for higher levels of Perception at L60 and L70 (maximum Perception 6). Skill up Picky Eater as high as you can, because it improves your loot significantly. Trapping is enough at L3. Skip out on "Collector's Sense", since that doesn't bring much valuable loot overall. I also invested a few points in Labeling and Broker, just as Quality-of-Life features for myself and also to save more resources from /g_stock.
